Seattle Sounders Dominate Cruz Azul in Leagues Cup

Seattle Sounders turned in a performance for the ages, crushing Liga MX team Cruz Azul 7-0 in the Leagues Cup. The match marked the biggest demolition of a Liga MX team in the history of the two leagues.

The Sounders started strong, but it wasn’t until the second half that they truly took control. Yeimar headed in an Albert Rusnák corner to put the Sounders up 1-0, followed by Obed Vargas scoring on a deflected shot to make it 2-0.

Jesus Ferreira then took over, netting two goals in the space of three minutes to push the lead to 3-0. The Sounders reserves continued their onslaught, with Osaze De Rosario and Pedro de la Vega adding to the scoreline before Nouhou headed in a rebound to make it 6-0.

The match ended with a stunning goal from de la Vega on a volley that will go down as one of the prettiest goals in Sounders history. The final score was 7-0, the most lop-sided win in Sounders history and the worst loss by an MLS team against a Liga MX opponent.

Despite the dominating performance, coach reminded the team that it’s still just one win. They’ll need to carry this momentum into their next game to truly make it meaningful. For now, the Sounders bask in the glory of their historic victory.
