Checking Your Windows 11 PC’s Performance Score

The Windows Experience Index (WEI) is a tool that helps you assess your computer’s performance on a scale of 1 to 10. Introduced in Windows Vista, it provided a numerical assessment of hardware and software performance. Although the direct display feature was removed in Windows 8.1, the WEI still exists in Windows 11.

Using the WEI allows you to analyze your PC’s components, such as the CPU and storage drive, and make informed decisions about upgrades. The closer the score is to 10, the faster and more responsive your PC will be.

To access the WEI in Windows 11:

1. Open the Command Prompt by searching for it.
2. Type the command “winsat formal” and run the process.
3. Navigate to C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore and open the HTML file with today’s date.
4. Find the WinSPR entry in the data list and view the WEI info below it.

For example, if your PC’s CPU is quick but not as fast as it could be, you can consider upgrading to a laptop with a faster CPU or updating your SSD for slight performance improvements.
