Actor Gary Busey has pleaded guilty to a single count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact in New Jersey. The plea, made during a virtual appearance in court on July 31, comes after several women accused him of inappropriately touching them at the Monster-Mania Convention in August 2022. Busey initially faced five charges but had four dropped and pleaded not guilty to the remaining charge.
Busey’s attorney claims his client was “overcharged” due to his celebrity status, suggesting a lower-level disorderly persons offense for harassment would have been more suitable. The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has declined to comment on the matter.
The actor, known for films like “Point Break” and “Lethal Weapon,” as well as reality TV appearances in “Celebrity Big Brother” and “Dancing with the Stars,” faces a guilty plea to a single count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. This is not Busey’s first controversy in 2023, as he was involved in a hit-and-run collision in Malibu earlier this year without facing charges from the alleged victim.
