Nintendo Raises Prices on Original Switch Consoles

Nintendo is increasing the prices of its original “family of systems and products,” including the first-generation Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, Switch Lite, and certain accessories. The price hike will take effect this weekend.

The new prices for the original Switch consoles are not yet confirmed, but a brief listing on Target’s website showed a $40 increase for the first-gen Switch, putting it at $339.99. The Switch OLED would cost $50 more, at $399.99, while the Switch Lite was priced at $229.99, with a $30 increase.

Nintendo has stated that the price adjustment is based on market conditions. However, the move comes just after President Donald Trump signed an executive order that will impose tariffs on goods imported from Vietnam, where Nintendo has shifted most of its production in 2019 to avoid similar charges.

Some Switch 2 accessories and certain amiibo will also see price increases, while Switch 2 consoles and games remain unchanged. The Canadian prices for the original Switch consoles have been adjusted by $20-$40 CAD.
