The Fantastic Four remains at No. 1 at the box office, despite a disappointing weekend two result. The film grossed $11.7 million domestically in its second Friday on the big screen, marking an 80% drop from its debut. If the poor turnout continues, it may fall short of its initial weekend two estimates. With a domestic grand total currently sitting at $170 million and potentially reaching up to $198 million by the end of the weekend, Marvel has invested over $200 million in the production.
The film, headlined by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, was expected to be a success after its debut. However, it appears to be struggling to expand beyond comic book fans. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first post-pandemic success aimed to bring a new super team to cinemas but missed the mark with previous films like Thunderbolts and Eternals.
Theatrical owners are looking forward to wins from three new major releases: Universal and DreamWorks’ animated sequel “The Bad Guys 2,” Paramount’s “The Naked Gun,” and Neon’s body-horror thriller “Together.”
