Gaming platform GOG (Good Old Games) has launched a website called FreedomtoBuy.games to protest censorship, offering 13 adult games for free download. The website is in response to recent decisions from Steam and Itch to delist violent and sexuality-explicit games due to pressure from payment processors.
For the next 48 hours, users can download titles such as Leap of Love, HuniePop, and POSTAL 2, which have faced bans or delistings on other platforms. GOG is highlighting how easily digital storefronts can be pressured to remove content, emphasizing the importance of preservation and free speech.
The platform’s decision comes after Valve’s new rule requiring games to adhere to payment processor standards led to the delisting of indie titles like VILE: Exhumed. Itch has also faced pressure from a nonprofit called Collective Shout, resulting in some games being removed from its storefront. GOG aims to bring back free and paid content on these platforms by exercising its right to self-publish and distribute adult games.
