Atlanta’s Eli White homered twice, including a three-run shot, as the Braves edged the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 on Sunday in a rain-delayed MLB game. The homer in the second inning gave Atlanta a 3-1 lead and was followed by his sixth homer of the season in the seventh.
Cincinnati struggled with runners in scoring position, going 1-for-8 with 12 left on base. Braves right-hander Hurston Waldrep, who earned his first career win, pitched 5⅔ innings of one-run ball after being called up from Triple-A Gwinnett. Despite a brief exit due to lower abdominal pain, Braves third baseman Austin Riley remained in the game.
Waldrep’s win marked Atlanta’s fourth win over Cincinnati this season. The teams had previously split two of their first six games. The game was initially scheduled for Saturday but was suspended due to persistent rain before resuming on Sunday morning.
