Ukraine Drone Attack Ignites Oil Depot Fire in Sochi, Russia

A massive oil depot fire near the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi has been blamed by Moscow on an overnight Ukrainian drone attack. According to Krasnodar region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev, the fire was caused when drone debris hit a fuel tank, with 127 firefighters working to extinguish the blaze before it was put out.

Meanwhile, Russia continued its military actions in Ukraine, targeting key infrastructure and killing one person in Kherson city. Ukrainian officials reported seven deaths from Russian attacks in the southern region of Kherson and eastern Donetsk on Saturday.

Russian authorities claim they intercepted 93 Ukrainian drones overnight, while Ukraine’s air force said it shot down 61 drones and six missiles. The conflict escalates as both sides accuse each other of targeting energy infrastructure.

Regional head Oleksandr Prokudin called for a partial evacuation in Kherson city after the Ostrivsky bridge was hit by Russian strikes. The city has seen significant damage, with over 1,800 people still living in the affected Korabel island district.

The situation worsens as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky calls for stronger international sanctions against Russia, following a deadly week of civilian casualties in Ukraine. US President Donald Trump also condemned Russian actions and suggested new sanctions are coming.
