Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series may feature faster charging speeds, with leaked photos of the new battery cases for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models revealing a stainless steel design. The cases differ between the US and Chinese markets, with the US version featuring a smaller “L-shaped” cutout and no SIM tray.
The stainless steel battery case is expected to improve thermal management and durability, making it easier to replace batteries in the future. Apple has been cautious about fast charging due to concerns over battery longevity and heat dissipation. The new cases are more durable than previous “soft pack” designs, which were prone to accidental punctures.
Majin Bu, a leakster, believes that faster charging speeds may be on the horizon for these models. This could potentially rival some of the fastest charging speeds found in Chinese smartphones, such as those from Xiaomi, vivo, and realme, which can fully recharge batteries in tens of minutes.
