Yamashita Wins Women’s Open with Near-Flawless Round

Miyu Yamashita won the AIG Women’s Open 2025 at Royal Porthcawl, holding off England’s Charley Hull by two shots. The 24-year-old Japanese golfer produced an almost flawless final round of 70 to claim her first major victory.

Yamashita’s lead was secured after consecutive bogeys at the 16th and 17th holes cost Hull her chance. Despite trailing by as many as 11 strokes at the halfway mark, Hull fought back with a strong second round, but ultimately fell short.

The final standings saw Yamashita finish on -11, followed closely by Hull (-9), Minami Katsu (-7), AL Kim (-7), and Takeda (-7). English players Rhodes, Hall, and Woad also impressed, finishing in the top 10.

Yamashita’s victory marked her first major win and follows top-10 finishes at each of the past two Women’s PGA Championship editions. In a post-tournament interview, she expressed her gratitude to fans and praised the historic nature of winning the tournament.
