The Philadelphia Eagles returned to practice on Sunday morning, one day after a tough Saturday off, and made progress in their preseason preparations. Here are some observations from Day 8 of training camp.
The injury report showed several key players, including A.J. Brown (hamstring), DeVonta Smith (back tightness), and Nolan Smith (concussion), were limited or didn’t practice. However, both players returned to the field on Sunday and appeared healthy.
In terms of depth chart notes, Adoree’ Jackson continues to start at outside cornerback, but Kelee Ringo rotated in for some snaps. Drew Mukuba’s shoulder injury kept him limited, but Sydney Brown filled in with first-team reps. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Jihaad Campbell led the linebackers, while Azeez Ojulari got significant playing time at left outside backer.
Veteran edge rusher Josh Uche impressed with a powerful one-arm stab against Kendall Lamm during team drills. Uche has been a pleasant surprise this summer, making more plays than expected.
On offense, Jalen Hurts connected with Dallas Goedert on a perfect back-shoulder throw, and DeVonta Smith returned to the field after missing some practices due to injury. The offense also had a chance at a deep ball but missed, with Jahan Dotson being undercut by Adoree’ Jackson.
Some notable OL vs. DL 2-on-2s drills saw rookie Ty Robinson win going inside on a stunt and hit Laekin Vakalahi with a devastating club. Rookie Antwaun Powell-Ryland beat Kendall Lamm clean with a speed move around the edge.
The practice ended with an intense situational drill, capped off by a defensive team interception, but not before several other notable plays were made.
