Meta-owned Instagram services have come back online after a technical issue caused thousands of users to experience problems accessing the platform. According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, nearly 100,000 incidents were reported with Facebook at its peak, while almost 70,000 incidents were logged for Instagram. The number of reports has significantly decreased to over 1,000 for both platforms as of 6 p.m. ET. Users experienced an error message stating “something went wrong” before Meta’s teams worked to resolve the issue. This is not the first time Meta-owned social media platforms faced outages; a similar incident occurred earlier this year and another in October.
