Apple is expected to unveil its new iPhone 17 series next month, with a possible release date in early September 2025. A new report from Cnet suggests that the announcement could take place on either Tuesday, Sept. 9 or Wednesday, Sept. 3.
Historically, Apple has made public announcements on the first Tuesday of September after Labor Day, but this year’s Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 1, which may lead to a shift in their plans. According to Cnet Senior Editor Patrick Holland, Apple could release its iPhone event on Wednesday, Sept. 3, or Tuesday, Sept. 9, with possible release dates of Sept. 12 or 19.
The report also notes that Apple has released new designs at different times in the past, such as the iPhone XR arriving several weeks after the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max in 2018. Given that all four new iPhones are expected to have completely new designs this year, it’s possible that one or more of them could be delayed.
If all four phones are released on the same date, pre-orders may open on the Friday after the announcement. However, if there’s a delay, expect pre-orders to open later for those models. Apple typically releases its flagship iPhones on Fridays, which would make Sept. 19 the most likely release date.
