James Cook Absence Sparks Contract Concerns with Bills GM

Bills General Manager Brandon Beane expressed disappointment over running back James Cook’s absence from practice on Sunday. Cook had been taking part in training camp until then, but cited “business” as the reason for his absence. Beane admitted that the team was not aware of Cook’s plans beforehand and hopes to have him back on the field soon.

Cook is entering his final year under a rookie deal worth $5.271 million this season. Despite constant communication with Cook about an extension, a deal remains uncertain. Both sides must agree for the contract to be finalized, and Beane emphasized that the team’s priority is ensuring the agreement fits within the organization as a whole.

An agreement can still be reached before Cook becomes a free agent in the summer, but much uncertainty surrounds their situation in the near future.
