Evo 2025 Showcase Delivers Exciting Panels, Matches, and Awards

The Evo Showcase kicked off the Evo 2025 tournament with a bang, featuring a full day of panels, exhibition matches, interviews, new character reveals, and more. The Showcase Stage hosted notable developers from Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Rivals of Aether II, Granblue Fantasy Versus, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, Invincible VS, and MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls.

A highlight of the Showcase was the exhibition tournament for HUNTERxHUNTER NENxIMPACT, where Dylnyan took Grand Finals over Lariat God to earn a spot at Evo France in October. The tournament also featured a panel reveal for Rivals of Aether II’s next character, Galvan.

Other exciting announcements included Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.: World Stage, coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in October, and the upcoming release of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising’s EX versions. Sega also confirmed a closed beta test for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.: World Stage.

The Evo Showcase honored three members of the Fighting Game Community with Cannon Awards, recognizing their achievements and contributions to the scene. Javier “Javi” Moreno, Bruno “incross” Arruda, and Evan Mau received the awards for their dedication to the FGC.

Additionally, the Showcase featured interviews and games shows, including Seth Killian’s conversation with Arslan Ash about his TEKKEN journey, Jmcrofts’ game show challenging top Street Fighter players, and Evo’s featured artists hosting a panel on the power of art in the FGC.

The main event of the night was the OG Hunt exhibition match between Justin Wong and rising Street Fighter 6 star Betty, which ended with Justin’s thrilling victory. The showcase concluded with exciting announcements and recognitions for the Fighting Game Community, leaving fans eager to see what the rest of Evo 2025 has in store.
