Disney’s “Freaky Friday” sequel premiered in London, with actress Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as mother Tess Coleman. Her co-star Lindsay Lohan, who played their daughter Anna in the original 2003 film, also appeared, looking back to her past with a custom lavender metal mesh dress by Ludovic de Saint Sernin.
The outfit was reminiscent of one designed by Genevieve Tyrrell for the first film and featured Swarovski crystals. It marked Lohan’s second nod to the franchise through fashion, following an appearance last month in a leather miniskirt with “Pink Slip” emblazoned on it. The ’80s-inspired look also echoed the original poster artwork.
De Saint Sernin expressed his excitement about being able to pay homage to the 1990s film. He credited Lohan’s stylist, Andrew Mukamal, for popularizing method dressing after dressing Margot Robbie in doll-like outfits. The event highlighted millennial nostalgia driving cultural moments in the film industry. Curtis and Lohan both praised their fans for keeping the movie beloved across generations.
