The US government has added several top artificial intelligence (AI) companies, including Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic, to a list of approved vendors for civilian federal agencies. The move aims to make it easier for government agencies to access AI tools through a new contracting platform called the Multiple Award Schedule (MAS).
According to Bloomberg, the tech giants were evaluated based on security and performance. This development comes as part of President Donald Trump’s executive orders aimed at boosting AI development, including revising environmental standards for data centers and promoting “bias-free” AI.
The General Services Administration (GSA) oversees the MAS platform, which allows government agencies to access pre-negotiated contracts with AI vendors without having to individually negotiate with them.
