Fox Corporation has announced its direct-to-consumer streaming service, Fox One, will be available for $19.99 a month. The service, set to launch on August 21, targets consumers who may want the company’s content but no longer have pay TV subscriptions. Fox One will provide subscribers with their local Fox TV affiliate and several cable channels, including Fox News, Fox Sports, and Big Ten Network.
The service does not produce original programming and is priced lower than ESPN’s new standalone streaming platform at $29.99 a month. However, it offers access to live events such as Major League Baseball games, the NFL, and college football. Fox One will also be bundled with Fox Nation, another subscription-based service, for $24.99 per month.
Fox Corporation sees streaming services as complementary to its traditional cable distribution model, which still generates significant revenue despite declining pay TV subscriptions. The company reported 4% growth in subscription revenue from its broadcast stations and a 2% increase in fees from cable companies carrying its channels.
