SpaceX successfully landed its first stage booster on its droneship during a Starlink 10-30 mission on August 4. The launch, which took place at 3:57 a.m. EDT, marked the company’s 69th Starlink launch of the year and its 485th booster landing.
The reused Falcon 9 rocket, designated as B1080, has flown for a 21st time, with previous missions including Axiom Space’s private astronaut missions and the European Space Agency’s Euclid observatory. The booster had previously reached orbit on multiple occasions, cementing SpaceX’s reputation for innovative rocket reuse.
The launch was initially weathered by thunderstorms, but the team managed to find a clear window for liftoff. Approximately 8.5 minutes after launch, B1080 successfully landed on the “Just Read the Instructions” droneship, marking another milestone in the company’s reusable rocket program.
