3,200 Boeing Workers Go On Strike Over Contract Offer

Around 3,200 union workers at Boeing facilities in Missouri and Illinois began striking Monday night after rejecting a contract offer from the company. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) members work on fighter jets like the F-15 and F/A-18 models.

The strike is due to the rejection of an earlier 4-year contract proposal that featured 40% average wage growth. Union leaders say they deserve a better deal, focusing on family security and recognizing their expertise.

Boeing officials are prepared for the strike and have put in place contingency plans to minimize operational disruptions. However, the company notes that using a non-union workforce may raise security concerns.

The strike marks the second time Boeing workers have gone on strike in recent years. The dispute highlights ongoing labor tensions between unions and major corporations.
