David Ellison Named Chairman as Skydance-Turned-Paramount Board Unveiled

Paramount Pictures’ new board of directors has been officially named, with tech mogul David Ellison leading the group. Ellison, 42, will serve as chairman and chief executive, alongside Oracle CEO Safra A. Catz. Former Paramount Pictures chairwoman Sherry Lansing will also join the board.

The new board comprises 10 members, including representatives from tech firms like RedBird Capital Partners, Larry Ellison’s family, and private equity firm Lawrence Investments. The group is expected to take control of Paramount in the coming days.

Current Paramount board member Barbara Byrne will remain on the board, while other senior executives are set to exit. Josh Greenstein, a former Sony executive, will run Paramount Pictures alongside Dana Goldberg.

The new board’s composition reflects a power-sharing arrangement between tech firms and private equity groups. The Larry Ellison family holds five designates on the board, including Catz and David Ellison.

The Federal Communications Commission approved the Skydance-Paramount merger in February, paving the way for the deal to move forward. As part of the transaction, National Amusements will receive $2.4 billion, with the Redstone family’s shares passing to Larry Ellison and RedBird Capital Partners.

The deal is expected to inject $1.5 billion into Paramount’s balance sheet to help pay down debt.
