A team of enthusiasts led by Jon Doremus successfully drove a Chevrolet Silverado EV for an impressive 1,059 miles on a single charge, breaking the previous record held by the Lucid Air sedan. The team modified the vehicle with a tonneau cover and worn-out tires to conserve energy, planning routes carefully to avoid high speeds. Unlike the Lucid Air, which ran on the AC during the challenge, the Silverado EV was driven without air conditioning, relying on cracked windows for ventilation.
Doremus credits the team’s ability to adapt and learn from the experience, saying they could potentially beat the record with a more professional attempt. The Chevrolet Silverado EV, however, is currently rated at 493 miles by the EPA, suggesting that the actual range could be higher. As the team looks to refine their strategy, Doremus is eager to see how customers report back on their own Silverado EV driving experiences.
