US to Host 2028 Summer Olympics, Establish White House Task Force

US President Donald Trump has issued an executive order announcing that the United States will host the 2028 Summer Olympics and establishing a new task force to oversee preparations. The Task Force will be led by Trump himself and will include representatives from various government departments, including State, Defense, Homeland Security, and more.

The task force is tasked with ensuring maximum safety, secure borders, and world-class transportation for millions of visitors during the Games. It will also coordinate with state and local partners to support interagency cooperation and information-sharing. The task force’s work will focus on security, transportation, visa processing, credentialing programs, and emergency response functions.

The order establishes the White House Task Force on the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will be housed in the Department of Homeland Security. Agency heads serving as members of the task force will submit reports on their agency’s planning and activities by October 1, 2025.

The task force is set to terminate on December 31, 2028, unless extended by Trump. The order emphasizes that it does not create any new rights or benefits but rather supplements existing law.
