Syrian Activist Returns Home After Opposition Forces Capture Homs

Osama Sabsabi, a 29-year-old activist from Berlin, has returned to his hometown of Homs in Syria after opposition forces captured the city. The news brought him immense joy, as he plans to reunite with his family members still alive and pay his respects to his father’s burial site.

Sabsabi, who opposes the exiled President Bashar Assad’s regime, had been making plans to travel to Jordan before crossing into Syria to see his wife and siblings in Homs. His father was tortured by Assad’s men and later killed in battle, a loss Sabsabi intends to help alleviate by rebuilding their destroyed family home.

The capture of Homs marks a significant development in the ongoing conflict, as opposition forces gain momentum against the Assad regime. For Sabsabi, the return is not just about reuniting with loved ones but also about finding closure and contributing to the rebuilding efforts in his community.
