Next-Gen Xbox Console Rumors Emerge

The next-generation console market is expected to see the launch of a new Xbox console as soon as 2027. Since the Xbox Series X/S was released in 2020, it’s common for Sony and Microsoft to not extend their consoles’ lifespan beyond seven years.

Rumors are surfacing about what we might expect from the next-gen Xbox. According to reports by TweakTown, the console is rumored to use AMD’s ‘Magnus’ APU, which is typically used in pre-built gaming PCs. This suggests that the new Xbox will be more of a PC competitor than a direct rival to Sony’s PlayStation 6.

The Magnus APU is said to work alongside a Zen 6 CPU and RDNA 5 GPU, featuring top-of-the-range components. It’s not surprising that Microsoft would focus on quality over price, especially when compared to Sony’s console wars.

New details have emerged about the AT2 die, which could be used in the next-gen Xbox. This die features up to 64 CUs of RDNA 5 GPU and up to 18GB of GDDR7 memory, with a 192-bit memory bus and up to 864GB/sec of memory bandwidth.

While it’s unclear when we’ll see an official unveiling of the new console, Microsoft is focused on releasing the Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X handheld devices this winter. The release date for these devices has not been confirmed, but prices are expected to be announced soon.

For now, fans can sit tight and enjoy the current generation while it lasts. Any concrete information about the next-gen Xbox might emerge as early as mid-2026.
