SpaceX Scrubs Amazon’s Kuiper Satellite Launch Again

Amazon’s Project Kuiper broadband internet satellites are back at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, set to launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The mission, dubbed KF-02, was initially scheduled for Friday but has been scrubbed due to “additional vehicle checkouts.” Liftoff is now set for 9:40 a.m. EDT.

The second out of three Falcon 9 flights purchased by Amazon, KF-02 will deploy over 3,200 spacecraft in low Earth orbit. A new Falcon 9 first stage booster, B1091, will be used on the mission, which will also target a landing on the SpaceX droneship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” after eight minutes.

Amazon has already launched three fully operational Kuiper satellites and currently has 78 spacecraft in orbit, with 102 expected following the KF-02 deployment. The tech giant plans to launch its third and final planned mission on a Falcon 9 at an unspecified date.

Meanwhile, United Launch Alliance (ULA) is preparing for two national security missions for the US Space Force, starting with USSF-106 on Aug. 12. AriaSpace has also booked several launches, including its third Ariane 6 rocket set to launch no earlier than Aug. 12 from French Guiana.
