Meta Apologizes for Outage Affecting Facebook, Instagram, and More

Meta has apologized to users after multiple social media apps experienced downtime on Wednesday, including Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Facebook Messenger. The company acknowledged the issue with a post stating that it was “99% of the way there” in resolving the problem.

According to Downdetector, outages were first reported at 1 p.m. Eastern Time across the country, with services resuming within an hour. Most users encountered issues with mobile apps rather than desktop versions, with Facebook Messenger experiencing the highest number of outages.

Meta initially explained that a technical issue was affecting users’ ability to access its apps and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused. The company is working to restore normal service as quickly as possible.
