Paramount Pictures, now under the ownership of Skydance, has picked up the highly anticipated biker thriller “High Side” from director James Mangold and star Timothée Chalamet. The project reunites the duo after their collaboration on the Academy Award-nominated biopic “A Complete Unknown.” High Side is based on an original story by Jaime Oliveira and follows a former MotoGP racer who gets drawn back into high-speed risks and extreme danger for a series of bank robberies.
Peter Chernin and David Ready are attached to produce the film alongside Mangold. The project is described as a thrilling ride between “Heat” and “Hell or High Water.” Mangold expressed his excitement to work with Chalamet again, citing their shared passion for original storytelling and filmmaking. With this acquisition, Paramount Pictures is making a statement in the competitive film industry.
Mangold’s busy schedule includes developing a “Swamp Thing” project for DC and a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm. The studio remains committed to championing bold and original storytelling, as stated by Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, co-chairs of Paramount Pictures. With High Side, the studio is looking forward to making a significant impact in the industry.
