A recent cybersecurity attack has disrupted Krispy Kreme’s online ordering system, causing operational disruptions to customers across parts of the US. The company revealed that unauthorized activity on its technology late last month is still affecting certain functions.
Federal law enforcement has been notified, but the full scope and impact of the incident are not yet known. In-person orders at Krispy Kreme’s 400 US locations remain unaffected, as do delivery services to its partners such as grocery stores and nearly 2,000 McDonald’s restaurants.
The company expects the hack to hurt its bottom line due to lost revenue from online ordering disruptions. Krispy Kreme has also recently expanded its partnership with McDonald’s this year and sold a majority stake of Insomnia Cookies brand as part of its focus on delivering fresh doughnuts.
