Google Pixel 10 Series May Ditch Physical SIM Cards for eSIM

A new rumor suggests that Google’s upcoming Pixel 10 series may significantly reduce support for physical SIM cards and adopt a more eSIM-centric approach. According to Evan Blass, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL might only support two eSIM slots, whereas prior models supported one.

However, there is an exception: the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will still feature a physical SIM card tray. This move could be a significant departure from current trends, particularly in light of Apple’s recent decision to eliminate physical SIM cards from its new iPhones in the US market.

While Blass’s claim seems unexpected and should be taken with caution, it is worth noting that previous leaks have shown images of the Pixel 10 series featuring SIM trays. Nevertheless, many recent leaks have lacked any mention of the SIM tray, leaving the authenticity of this rumor uncertain.

The only data point cited by Blass so far is the US market, where eSIM support has been less prevalent in Android devices compared to Apple’s iPhones. As the tech community eagerly awaits more information on the Pixel 10 series, it remains to be seen whether Google will indeed adopt a more eSIM-focused approach and abandon physical SIM cards altogether.
