Cowboys’ Parsons Not Practicing Due to Back Tightness

Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons has stopped practicing in training camp due to back tightness, according to multiple sources. This is the first time Parsons has missed practice during camp. Parsons had previously dealt with a similar issue that forced him to miss more of the mandatory June minicamp.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the back issues were part of the negotiation process for Parsons’ trade request. However, Jones stated he would not trade Parsons and that sources close to the team have not received any calls regarding a potential trade. Parsons is under the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, which pays him $21.324 million this year.

Dak Prescott, who recently signed an extension with the Cowboys, expressed support for Parsons, saying he was doing the right thing by avoiding practice. Prescott previously dealt with similar negotiations and said that tension can arise in business, but it’s essential to separate personal feelings from the agreement.

Jones has maintained that he and Parsons reached a deal on the terms of his extension in March. The team has not had discussions with Parsons’ agent David Mulugheta regarding contract talks. Prescott emphasized that communication is key, but he has faith in the Cowboys organization and believes they will work out an agreement for Parsons.
