Box Office: ‘Weapons’ Blasts Off to No.1 with $18.2M Opening Day

The weekend box office has officially begun, and “Weapons” has taken the top spot. According to The Numbers, the film reaped a whopping $18.2 million on its opening day, putting it ahead of the competition.

Josh Brolin’s starring role in the horror movie is being praised for standing out from other films in the genre. In an interview with Collider, Brolin discussed why “Weapons” excels amidst the crowded market: “With so much content, you’re just watching things on whatever streaming service you’re on, and you’re just going, ‘F–k, why is this so boring, man? Why?’ And just go to the next thing. It’s all the same s–t.”

The film’s success has led to predictions of an opening weekend earnings of over $30 million.

Other notable films made their way onto the box office chart, including “Freaky Friday,” which landed in second place with sales of $12.7 million, and “The Bad Guys 2,” which earned $3.07 million in its fourth week.

Disney’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” dropped to third place, while Liam Neeson’s “The Naked Gun” fell to fifth with $2.37 million in sales.

As the box office continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these films perform over time. For now, it seems that “Weapons” is the movie to beat this weekend.
