NASA’s Crew-10 Returns Safely After 5-Month Space Journey

A crew of four astronauts safely returned to Earth on Saturday after spending nearly five months in space. The NASA astronauts, along with their international counterparts from Japan and Russia, splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off California in a SpaceX capsule.

The crew conducted over 200 science experiments during their stay on the International Space Station, focusing on material studies and human physiology. This mission marked the 12th time SpaceX launched NASA astronauts to the station and is part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program.

Crew member Nichole Ayers described her experience as “amazing” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of the mission. Her crewmates, Anne McClain, Takuya Onishi, and Kirill Peskov, also shared their experiences, highlighting the importance of this mission in preparing humans for exploration beyond low-Earth orbit.

The return of Crew-10 marks the end of a significant chapter in human spaceflight. NASA is planning to retire the ISS by the end of the decade, with commercial companies launching new space stations for its astronauts in the coming years.
