Instagram Unveils New Features for Better Friendships and Sharing

Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has rolled out several new features to help users connect with friends more easily. The updates include reposts, a “Friends” tab in Reels, and a map feature that allows users to share their location with selected friends.

Repost Feature:
Instagram now allows users to repost Reels from public profiles and in-feed posts to share with their own followers. The reposted content will appear in a separate profile tab, making it easy for users to look back at the content they’ve shared.

Location Sharing Feature:
Users can choose to responsibly share their location with friends they pick using the new map feature. Location sharing is completely off by default, and users have three audience-sharing options: custom list, Close Friends list, or followers they follow back. When users share locations in their stories, it will show up on the location map for 24 hours.

Friends Reels Tab:
The “Friends” tab in Reels allows users to see public content their friends have interacted with and recommendations from Blends they’ve started. Users can also easily start conversations about these interactions. The feature has been rolling out globally, and users can edit or opt out of it by going to their Settings and activity page.

These new features aim to enhance user connections and sharing experiences on Instagram.
