US regulators have launched an investigation into Kia vehicles affected by a recall for defective oil piston rings, following complaints about an ineffective repair remedy. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reviewed 47 complaints alleging the recall fix was not effective or unavailable and has started an audit to evaluate Kia’s remedy measures.
