Fighting Game Revelations at The Game Awards 2024

Several new fighting games are expected to make an announcement at The Game Awards 2024, with some confirmed and others likely to reveal major updates.

Bandai Namco has confirmed that Tekken 8 will unveil its last DLC character for Season 1. Although Anna Williams may be revealed as the starting character for Season 2, a guest fighter is also expected. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s developer Bandai Namco may use The Game Awards to show off new fighters and gameplay.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.’s open beta test was recently leaked online, suggesting that its announcement at The Game Awards could help raise awareness for the upcoming game. However, Virtua Fighter 6 remains a mystery with no official release date announced.

Street Fighter 6 is rumored to show off Fatal Fury’s Mai Shiranui as the next DLC character in Season 2. Capcom has been actively promoting Street Fighter 6 and may reveal more content at The Game Awards.

NetherRealm Studios will showcase Conan the Barbarian from Mortal Kombat 1, while Arc System Works could potentially reveal Elphelt from Guilty Gear Strive. However, Venom’s release date for Guilty Gear Strive in early 2025 suggests that his announcement might be delayed until a later event.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is also nominated for Best Fighting Game and may use The Game Awards to showcase Sandalphon, a character previously announced but not shown.

The Game Awards’ lineup of fighting games includes Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Hunter x Hunter: Nen Impact, and possibly Conan from Mortal Kombat 1.
