Giants’ Jaxson Dart Impresses in Debut, Says He Has Room for Improvement

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart made a strong preseason debut on Saturday, leading the team to a 34-25 win over the Buffalo Bills. Dart completed 12-of-19 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 24 yards on three carries.

Coach Brian Daboll was pleased with Dart’s performance, saying it was what he expected – efficient, effective, aggressive, and confident in the pocket. However, Dart himself was more critical, calling his own game “mid” despite a poised demeanor throughout.

Dart had some notable moments, including a 28-yard touchdown pass to Lil’Jordan Humphrey in the second quarter. The rookie also drove down the field using an up-tempo approach and led to a field goal in a two-minute drill at the end of the first half.

Despite some minor mistakes, including deflected passes and stalled drives, Dart’s overall performance was encouraging. Coach Brian Daboll emphasized that this was just one preseason game and there is still much work to be done.

The Giants’ other rookie quarterback, Abdul Carter, also had a promising debut, with general manager Joe Schoen noting that neither of the top two picks seemed overwhelmed by their roles. Jameis Winston also performed well, completing 7-of-11 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown, although he did throw an interception.

While Dart’s performance was impressive, it’s essential to remember that this is just one preseason game, and there are still many areas for improvement.
