Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that the open beta for Battlefield 6 is its largest to date. The event on Steam has attracted over 500,000 concurrent players, surpassing popular multiplayer games like Helldivers 2 and Elden Ring Nightreign.
The open beta has set a record for the game, with 473,632 simultaneous players on Steam alone, making it one of the weekend’s most-played games. This number only accounts for peak time and does not include total player numbers. Battlefield 6 is now the twenty-second biggest game on Steam ever, exceeding the concurrent peak of 463,798 players achieved by Monster Hunter Wilds.
EA has acknowledged that peak times are approaching and queues will be expected. The company is working to manage entry times into the game but asks for patience as players wait. EA wants to ensure a smooth and fair experience for all players, including those already in the game.
Battlefield 6’s open beta allows participants to try out early access to the game, which has been made available through the Labs tests. Although some people have received codes to participate, others can still complete Weekend 1 challenges next week. The event is expected to run over the weekend and into the next, providing more opportunities for players to experience the game.
Connor, a gaming journalist, had an opportunity to play Battlefield 6 during the beta. He expressed cautious optimism about the game’s potential, believing that it offers solid building blocks for a fantastic Battlefield experience. However, he notes that more gameplay is needed to confirm its quality and effectiveness.
