Southwest Airlines Apologizes for Leaving Blind Women Behind

A US airline, Southwest Airlines, has apologized for leaving two blind women behind a flight from New Orleans to Orlando. Camille Tate and Sherri Brun were supposed to be on the same plane as their fellow passengers but were not offered rebooking options or verbal notification of the switch.

The friends booked their flights through the airline’s website and waited at their gate for five hours during the delay, only to find out they were the only two passengers left on a different flight. They said they never saw any information about rebooking and were told when they boarded that there were no other passengers on the plane because they had been forgotten.

Southwest Airlines has offered the women each $100 vouchers as an apology, but they claim the airline did not provide them with sufficient communication or assistance. The two friends took their experience to the media to raise awareness about the need for better accommodations and communication for passengers with disabilities.
