The Minnesota Vikings’ preseason opener against the Texans saw younger players and roster bubble candidates make a notable impression on Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades. The second and third-stringers took center stage, playing more snaps than their starting counterparts.
On offense, standout performances came from RG Joe Huber (94.7), C Michael Jurgens (80.0), LT/RT Walter Rouse (78.4), WR Myles Price (76.8), and RB Zavier Scott (75.9). Huber’s impressive run-blocking grade of 93.9 marked him as PFF’s highest-graded rookie across all eight games in the NFL on Saturday.
Defensively, OLB Gabriel Murphy (80.2) and DL Elijah Williams (79.9) stood out, with Murphy recording a team-high five pressures on just 19 pass-rush snaps. The Vikings’ young talent is looking promising, particularly for key roles like outside linebacker and defensive line depth.
While some veterans are also in contention for roster spots, the emergence of these younger players suggests an exciting future for the Vikings’ roster.
