Apple has released the second public beta of iOS 26, bringing several new features to developers and beta testers. One notable change is the revamped Camera app, which simplifies some aspects but also introduces a redesigned interface that inverts how users switch between different camera modes.
The new design swaps the traditional left-to-right swiping for switching between modes like video and portrait mode. This change has been met with confusion from many users, who are accustomed to the previous method of swiping in one direction.
However, Apple has provided a solution for those who prefer the old way: a toggle called Classic Mode Switching. Enabling this option allows users to revert to the traditional camera swipe direction.
The iOS 26 beta also introduces call screening and other features that will be available in the stable version of iOS 26 later this year. Users are advised to test the beta on a secondary device, as it may be buggy or affect battery life.
Apple’s decision to overhaul the Camera app design is likely due to its new Liquid Glass feature, which was introduced alongside iOS 26. The company has also given users the option to disable this change with the Classic Mode Switching toggle, providing a degree of freedom in using the updated interface.
