Dolphins Sign Running Backs To Replace Injured Mattison

The Miami Dolphins have signed two new running backs, Aaron Shampklin and Mike Boone, to replace injured Alexander Mattison. The moves come after Mattison suffered a season-ending neck injury on Sunday.

Shampklin, 25, has limited NFL experience with only 28 snaps on offense in three games last season. He also has six carries for 17 yards. Despite his lack of size and experience, Shampklin’s special teams ability appealed to the Dolphins.

Boone, 29, has more experience with 72 career games under his belt. Last season, he had 13 carries for 59 yards in six games for Carolina. The Dolphins likely saw potential in Boone’s abilities after Mattison’s injury.

The signing of Shampklin and Boone joins De’Von Achane, Jaylen Wright, and Ollie Gordon II as the Dolphins’ new running backs. To make room on the roster, Miami released undrafted rookie receiver Monaray Baldwin and placed Mattison on injured reserve.
