Apple is introducing two new apps to the iPhone’s Home Screen with iOS 26, expanding its built-in app suite. The new additions are Apple Games and Preview.
The Apple Games app serves as a central hub for gaming on the iPhone, replacing existing media-focused apps like Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple Books, and Arcade. The new app features a Home view that allows users to browse their favorite games, recommends new titles, and makes it easy to jump back into favorite games.
The Home tab includes browsing must-play events, personalized game suggestions, and access to tabs for Arcade, Play Together, and Library. This new app is launching on iPhone, iPad, and Mac this fall.
In addition to the Apple Games app, Preview is coming to iOS 26 for the first time. The app offers a dedicated interface for viewing PDFs and images saved in iCloud or on device, featuring tools like resize, rotate, edit, document scanning, and more. Like its Mac counterpart, Preview uses the new document browser UI introduced in iPadOS 18.
Both Apple Games and Preview seem like natural candidates for standalone apps, replicating functionality found elsewhere but adding new features to enhance user experience.
