Core Devices has officially rebranded its new smartwatches as the Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2. The company’s original creator, Eric Migicovsky, showcased the final designs for the watch during a press event on Wednesday.
The new Pebble Time 2 features an updated industrial design with added features such as a multicolor RGB LED backlight, a second microphone, a compass sensor, and a screw-mounted back cover. The watch will be available in four colors, with buyers having input later on.
Specs for the watch remain largely unchanged from its predecessor, including a 1.5-inch e-paper display, touch screen, and waterproof rating yet to be determined. Other features include heart rate monitoring, step and sleep tracking, a speaker, and vibration via a linear actuator motor.
The Pebble Time 2 is available for preorder at $225 and will pair with smartphones via Bluetooth, allowing users to display notifications, control music on their phone, and connect to the internet. Pre-order customers who reserve their spot in line can upgrade to the Pebble Time 2 by waiting for an email survey link from Core Devices.
