Apple has finally brought a much-loved iPhone feature to the Mac with the upcoming release of macOS Tahoe 26. Live Activities, which provide real-time updates on key events and activities, are now available as a top navigation bar on the Mac. This feature allows users to easily access flight tracking details, airline information, ride share apps, sports scores, and more, all without needing their iPhone.
The addition of Live Activities mirrors the experience found on the iPhone, where these features appear when your phone is nearby and signed into the same Apple account. With macOS Tahoe 26, you can now see these updates directly on your Mac’s menu bar, and tap to expand for full details or quickly access them via the Mirroring app.
This feature is particularly useful in cramped spaces, such as airplane seats, where balancing a laptop and phone can be awkward. With Live Activities on the Mac, users can easily stick to one device, keeping their tray table clutter-free. The feature also automatically expands for major updates, saving screen real estate on your Mac.
Live Activities are now part of the macOS Tahoe 26 release, expected in the Fall (September or October). For those eager to try it out, the public beta is available now, though users should be aware that there may be bugs and slowdowns.
