Musk and Altman Clash Over AI Trustworthiness

Elon Musk and Sam Altman have publicly disputed their relative trustworthiness in the field of artificial intelligence, with each platform contributing to the feud.

Musk sued Altman for allegedly breaching OpenAI’s founding mission last year. Musk claimed Apple’s actions violated antitrust laws, making it impossible for other AI companies to reach the top spot in the app store. In response, Altman questioned Musk’s credibility, suggesting he has a history of manipulating his own platform to benefit himself and harm competitors.

Other AI platforms, such as Grok and DeepSeek, took Altman’s side in the dispute, citing Musk’s past actions that benefited him personally at the expense of others. The situation escalated when ChatGPT 5 Pro responded with “Elon Musk” when asked which person is more trustworthy between Musk and Altman.

The ongoing feud between Musk and Altman dates back to 2018, when they both vied for leadership in AI. In February, their disagreement over President Trump’s AI plan intensified, with Musk reportedly interested in buying OpenAI for $97.4 billion – a proposal Altman refused. The dispute is set to continue as a fast-track trial this fall and an upcoming showdown between Schumer and Peltola in the Senate.
