A24 has released a teaser trailer for Marty Supreme, a sports movie starring Timothée Chalamet as the titular character. The film follows Marty Mauser’s pursuit of his ambitious dream, with Chalamet showcasing his character’s determination and passion for ping-pong.
In an interview clip from the trailer, Chalamet says, “I know it’s hard to believe, but I’m telling you, this game fills stadiums overseas.” The trailer also features a scene where Chalamet tries to impress Gwyneth Paltrow’s character, highlighting his character’s desire for validation and recognition.
Marty Supreme marks the first solo directorial feature of Josh Safdie since 2008. Safdie co-wrote the script with Ronald Bronstein and serves as producer alongside Timothée Chalamet, Eli Bush, and Anthony Katagas.
The film reunites Safdie with A24 after producing his previous films Good Time and Uncut Gems. This is Chalamet’s first movie since last year’s music biopic A Complete Unknown, which earned him an Oscar nomination.
