Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Injured with Oblique Strain

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders suffered an oblique strain during warmups on Wednesday morning, forcing him to sit out joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to coach Kevin Stefanski, Sanders experienced discomfort while throwing and was removed from practice plans.

Sanders is currently listed as day-to-day and will miss Thursday’s practice. His participation in Saturday’s preseason game against the Eagles is also uncertain due to his injury. This latest ailment joins a string of injuries affecting the team’s quarterback competition, with teammates Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel also dealing with hamstring issues.

Prior to being held out of practice on August 2, Sanders was expected to start the second preseason game if Pickett and Gabriel were unavailable. However, his recent performances, including a solid outing in the preseason opener where he completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, have raised questions about his ability to lead the team.

Sanders’ injury has cast doubt on his readiness for Saturday’s game against the Eagles, and it remains to be seen how this will impact the team’s quarterback depth chart.
