SpaceX successfully launched a batch of 28 Starlink V2 Mini satellites into low Earth orbit on August 14, marking the company’s 10th flight with the booster B1085. The Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 8:29 a.m. EDT and completed its mission after landing successfully on the droneship “Just Read the Instructions” about 8.5 minutes later.
The deployment brings SpaceX’s total Starlink satellite count to 1,762 over 71 Falcon 9 flights in 2025, with most missions launching from Cape Canaveral. The company is now seeking to increase its launch frequency at Vandenberg Space Force Base, proposing an expansion from 50 to 95 launches.
As part of this plan, SpaceX aims to transform Space Launch Complex 6 at VSFB to accommodate both Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launches, as well as add a pair of landing pads. The California Coastal Commission is set to discuss the proposal later in the day.
