Anna Faris and Regina Hall Reunite for ‘Scary Movie’ Franchise

The “Scary Movie” franchise is getting a long-awaited reunion with the return of stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall as Cindy and Brenda, respectively. The news was confirmed by Marlon Wayans on his Instagram, sharing a photo from the first film.

Faris and Hall will reprise their roles alongside Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans in the next installment of the horror parody franchise. The reboot is set to premiere on June 12, 2026. The Wayans brothers are working on an original script for the film, which they also co-wrote.

The “Scary Movie” franchise was a massive success when it first launched in 2000, grossing over $42 million at the box office and becoming one of the highest-grossing R-rated horror movies of all time. The series was developed by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Keenen Ivory Wayans.

The new film is part of Paramount Pictures’ first look deal with Miramax, and it will mark the sixth installment in the franchise. Miramax has had a rocky road to rebooting “Scary Movie,” but they have secured a deal that gives the Wayans family more equity in the movies.

Anna Faris was previously critical of Harvey Weinstein’s role in the franchise, citing a “crappy” deal with Miramax as the reason for her family’s troubles. However, Jonathan Glickman, the new head of Miramax, has come to an agreement with the Wayans brothers that includes more equity and creative control.

The return of Faris and Hall is a significant development in the franchise’s revival. With the Wayans brothers at the helm, “Scary Movie” fans can expect more horror parody fun and games.
